Leaf Café

Sydney, Australia

Leaf Café is a refined expression of surface craftsmanship and modern material integration. Designed to balance warmth and functionality, the interior palette relies on the natural synergy between microcement wall finishes and terrazzo flooring — two materials known for their aesthetic depth and commercial durability.

Together, the microcement and terrazzo finishes deliver a cohesive design language that balances durability with design precision. These materials are not only visually expressive but also practical, ensuring the interior withstands the daily movement and activity characteristic of a bustling café. The result is an environment that feels both crafted and contemporary — resilient in structure, refined in detail.

Polished Contrast

The walls feature seamless microcement, applied in multiple fine layers to achieve a continuous, sculptural surface with minimal joints. This hand-trowelled finish introduces subtle movement and texture, reflecting light in soft gradients that enhance the café’s calm, contemporary atmosphere. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, microcement is exceptionally durable, resistant to moisture and abrasion, and easy to maintain — making it ideal for hospitality and high-traffic commercial environments where design must meet performance.

Underfoot, terrazzo flooring provides a visually grounded and hard-wearing foundation. Its composite structure — a blend of marble and natural stone aggregates — offers both strength and refinement, ensuring longevity under constant use. The subtle polish of the terrazzo maintains slip resistance while allowing the material’s natural composition to take centre stage, harmonising beautifully with the understated tones of the microcement walls.
